The first SFV Free MLK Community Breakfast was held in 2008 and it continued until 2020. The COVID-19 pandemic delayed the Breakfast for several years. We are excited to announce the return of this great celebration!

Community Activism Award
JUNE 17, 2023. A sincere “thank you” to Shania at the Zawadi Cultural Collective/Black in the Valley for recognizing AALO co-founder for her work in the community. This presentation took place at the 2023 Juneteenth Celebration at Pierce College! I feel very humble and grateful for this recognition, especially from this wonderful group that does so much for the community!
BLACK MATERNAL HEALTH WEEK
AALO is contracted as the “Backbone Support” agency for the SPA2 African American Infant & Maternal (AAIMM) Community Action Team. We support the work of this amazing Team including organizing great events like the Black Moms in the Valley Luncheon celebrating Black Maternal Health Week 2023. We celebrated at the Mardi Gras Restaurant in Sherman Oaks on April 15.

African American Community Celebrates
Saturday, June 17, 2023. A great celebration of the Juneteenth holiday at Pierce College (Rocky Young Park). Organized by the Zawadi Cultural Collective/Black in the Valley, everyone was invited to enjoy a great day with music, food, vendors, and community resources! AALO was proud to be a sponsor for this great celebration.
